Courtroom Hoops- Gatorade Top 60 Camp Standouts
This past weekend Courtroom Hoops put on their inaugural Gatorade Top 60 camp in Hernando, MS at The Gatorade Field House. The event featured 80 of some the top guys from Mississippi and Tennessee. The players came to hoop and the coaches came out to watch! Below we take a closer look at some the top performers on the day.
Southward High (TN) 2026 5’9 Ronald Towns III
When it came to knocking down shots consistently Towns did just that. He did a great job of moving without the ball and got to his spots often. He was almost perfect when take 3 pointers from the wing. Towns also gave great effort on the defense end of the floor causing turn overs often.
Memphis Central (TN) 2025 6’ Kayin Mitchell
Mitchell played with high energy all morning. He did a good job of getting downhill and finishing well around the basket. Mitchell has good size for the guard spot and already comes equipped with a nice IQ. Defensively is where he will have a chance to make a mark this season on the varsity level. His ability to guard multiple positions will be something a coach can’t pass up.
Aberdeen (MS) 6’2 Tallie Webber
Webber had a productive day. He knocked down shots from all over the floor. He excelled shooting the 3 ball and mid range shots. Webber did a great job of distributing the ball and getting others involved. He had some flashy passes during game play that were highlight worthy. His pace and feel for the game at the PG position has improved since last season. He will look to have a productive season at Aberdeen this season after missing Freshman season due to injury.
Desoto Central (MS) 2025 6’7 Ottabwa Dickson Jr.
Dickson was a dominate force in the paint during game play. He has nice size and a good motor. He runs the floor well and does all the small things others don’t want to do. He had several dunks during game play and protected the basket well on the defensive end. Dickson is one that we will keep an eye on as the season gets under way.
Ridgeway (TN) 2025 6’3 Brian Carter
Another guy we lived above the rim was Carter. Brian has a nice frame and is an explosive athlete. He was able to put it on the floor and attacked the basket relentlessly. Carter had multiple plays that were highlight reel worthy. He will be a problem this season operating from the guard and wing position.
Olive Branch (MS) 2025 6’1 Reece Garrison
Garrison had a very productive day. He’s a big body guard who uses his strength to bully smaller guards around the court. He has a nice handle and is capable of making shots from deep. Garrison is a good rebounder and finishes well at the basket through contact. Its going to be interesting to see how he produces for Olive Branch with him seeing a lot more minutes this season.
Desoto Central (MS) 5’8 Kelby Patrick Jr.
Kelby came in with a great attitude on the day. He was seen giving high fives and praise to other campers even during drill work. When game play started he wasted little time getting downhill and putting pressure on the defense. He has a tight handle and toughness that one needs to be a successful PG. He can also shoot the 3 ball well. We look forward to seeing him progress over the season
Olive Branch (MS) 5’10 Caleb Hunt
Hunt was one of the fastest guards in the camp. He uses his speed and strength to blow by defenders almost at will. What intrigues us the most is his ability to be effective and efficient at all times. Hunt doesn’t force plays, instead he lets the game come to him. He can score off the catch or off the dribble. One of his best attributes is being able to control the tempo of the game and get others easy buckets. Defensively he prides himself on picking up the oppositions best player. He will be one of the top guards to watch this season in Mississippi and rightfully so after his showing last season.
Tupelo(MS) 2023 6’7 Gavin Shannon
Shannon came in and did what he does every time he’s on the floor. He was vocal, playing with passion, and getting buckets. It doesn’t take him long to impose his will on teammates and the opposition. Finishing at the basket is something he does with ease and now he is knocking down shots from deep on a very consistent basis. He’s already tagged as one of the top players in Mississippi’s 2023 class and will look to help Tupelo make it to the 6A state championship this season.
Olive Branch (MS) 2024 5’9 Zahir Gutierrez
Gutierrez had a good day at camp this past weekend. When it comes to playing the right way you can always expect that from him. He has a high IQ and looks to find teammates any chance that he gets. He can make open shots when needed, but he excels with getting everybody else involved. He will be a big asset for Olive Branch this season on their quest to make it back to the big house
Magnolia Heights (MS)2023 6’1 Hayden Drumwright
Drumwright was another true point that impressed us at the top sixty camp. Hayden does a great job of using his body to create contact with defenders. He’s a stocky guard, which allows him to absorb contact well when getting down hill. Drumwright is a tough defender and forces his will on other guards. He makes open shots and can create his own shot as well. Hayden will look to lead Magnolia Heights to playoffs and further this season .
Oxford (MS) 2024 6’1 Jeremiah Davis
Davis had a good showing on the day. He’s a great athlete that can score the ball in a variety of ways. Combo guards are what’s in style right now and he is just that. He can be a slasher or operate as a scoring lead guard. Davis is also a great defender who can pick you up 94ft and keeps the intensity up the whole game
Rossville Christian (MS) 2024 6’5 Jayden Williams
Jayden passes the look test with flying colors, and was one of the better athletes at the camp. Slashing is where he makes most of his buckets. He has a solid handle and can get to his spots and knock down shots. He rebounds will and can start the break and find open teammates. He will be one to keep an eye on this season for Rossville.
Christian Brothers (TN) 2023 6’8 Barrett Burchyett
Burchyett is one of our Mississippi guys who transferred over to CB last year. He has gotten better every time we’ve seen him. He rebounds well, can finish around the basket, and step out to knock down shots from 15ft to beyond the arc. He had a productive day on both ends and we look for him to have great season this year.
New Albany (MS) 2023 6’ Chris Carter
Carter is just one of those players that can do a little bit of everything. Playing the right way is what he does really well. He can score from all 3 levels, defends at a high level, and plays with great IQ. He will be a key player for New Albany this season and will look to lead that young group on a tough 4A region.
Olive Branch (MS) 2023 6’ Kaleb King
When it comes to preforming at camps Kaleb always find a way to be mentioned as one of the best on the day. He does a great job getting to his spots and can finish some tough layups. He is crafty with the ball and has the perfect camp ball package. He can handle, shoot it, and is just fun to watch in this setting. He will be another good guard that OB can utilize throughout the season.
Power Center Academy (TN) 2024 6’8 Nazir Allen
PCA had a slew of players with tons of potential. Allen was one that stood out to us. During warm ups it was evident standing at 6’8 he could play, but when he started dunking and showing off his athleticism, one couldn’t help but watch him. During game play he showed the ability to make shots, defend multiple positions, alter shots, and rebound at a high rate. With his size and upside I wouldn’t be surprised to see him become one of the top players in the southern region before next July.
Power Center Academy (TN) 2023 6’5 Cordarius Sledge
Sledge was one that really intrigued me on the weekend. He made tough shots look easy, while knocking them down from all over the floor. He is a good athlete with size and bounce to finish at the rim with ease. Off the dribble he’s solid, but deadly off the catch. Good rebounder and can defend multiple positions. Coaches all over the south should be all over him now.
PCA (TN) 2023 6’7 Jordan Brooks
One of the best shooter in the event IMO. He’s long with unlimited range. He does a lot of good things defensive as well. Brooks is a solid rebounder and can alter shots with his length. But his shooting ability and size will have coaches coming out to see him this season.
Best of the rest
Center Hill (MS) 25’ DeAundre Bailey
Tough lead guard, Good pace and solid IQ, plays the game with good intensity
Lusanne (TN) 2025 6’5 Jordan Richardson
Good Size, Solid footwork, Soft touch around the rim
Magnolia Heights (MS) 2025 5’11 Jax Wilson
Crafty Ball Handler, Finishes well at the rim, good vision
