Platform Academy Standouts

This weekend, I made the trip down to Memphis to check out the Platform Academy's highly anticipated “The Evaluation” camp. The camp showcased around 50 talented high school athletes alongside 50 enthusiastic middle school hoopers, creating an exciting mix of skill levels. It featured some of the top coaches and trainers in the area, who ran the players through a series of intense drills before the highly competitive 5 on 5 play began. Below, we will discuss our standout players whom we evaluated during both the drills and the game play, highlighting their impressive performances throughout the camp.

Overton 2026 6’5 Davion Murray

Murray was one of the best prospects on the day. He dominated during 3v3 and that carried over into the 5v5 games. He did a great job commanding the paint area on both sides of the ball. Defensively he grab boards often and used his solid handle to push the break. He scored the ball almost every time he found himself around the basket. He uses his size well and has a soft touch around the basket. He will be a productive piece on the Overton squad this year.

Southwind 2025 6’4 Kristopher Carroll

When it came to making shots Carroll did that plus more. He impressed during there games by getting to his spots and knocking down shots often. He was deadly off the catch and shoot and one dribble pull ups. He as a nice handle and was able to finish at the basket when needed. Carroll is a prospect coaches need to take a close look at this season.

Houston 2025 6’7 Keron Jackson

Throughout drill work it was noticeable that Jackson was one of the better wings in the camp. He has good footwork in the post, a solid handle, and showed the ability to make shots. He had one play were he caught a pass and finished with a drop step reverse dunk. With his size and ability to run the floor college coaches should be in to get a look at him this season.

Whitehaven 2025 6’3 Trequez Butler

Butler possed a tight handle with a quick change of pace that caused havoc in both games. He was able to get paint touches at will, where he was able to finish for himself and set up others for easy baskets. He plays with a nonstop motor which adds to his value, and he showed he was cable of knocking down 3 balls.

Cordova 2026 Jaylen Cooley

If you’re looking for a high-energy guy who seems to be literally everywhere on the basketball floor, then look no further than Jaylen. If the ball is in the vicinity, he is right there, relentlessly forcing steals, aggressively grabbing rebounds, or collecting those all-important trash buckets. He utilizes his impressive speed to blow by defenders with ease and set up his teammates for scoring opportunities. If you appreciate HUSTLE and a relentless approach to the game, he is definitely a player to watch closely.

MHEA 2025 6’1 Cameron Mathis

Mathis was a vocal PG who did a great job at getting teammates involved and making sure everybody stayed engaged on both ends of the floor. He was crafty with the ball and knocked down plenty of 3s in both games. He plays with a lot of energy and is hard not to notice because he does all of the small things coaches love.

Whitehaven 2025 Cameron Brown

Brown was one of the best players at the camp. He did whatever he wanted to do all day long. He was a blur in transition and kept pressure on the defense every time he touched the ball. With him always requiring a lot of attention he found teammates for easy looks in both games. Defensively he used his length to apply great ball pressure and came up with timely blocks when his team needed it the most. Brown is a prospect coaches need to put eyes on.

Sydney Thompson

Sydney was undoubtedly the most impressive ball handler I witnessed throughout the entire day. He effortlessly broke down defenders with his array of nifty, deft moves, allowing him to either drive to the basket or create space for his smooth pull-up jumper. On the other ended he pressured opposing guards into turnovers, which he converted into points for himself or a teammate.

Harding Academy 2025 6’5 Chazaiah Curry

Curry was a strong presence in the paint throughout the game. His athleticism played a key role, allowing him to score effectively above the rim. He excelled in open court situations and finished well despite contact. His focus and strength helped him execute several impressive dunks. Curry also showed his power when attacking the basket.
