No. 67 2022 6’5 Joe Haze Austin Pontotoc (MS)
Top 20 camper Joe haze came in and did what he does well. He brings a nonstop motor with a good stroke from 3. Austin always keeps plays alive with his hustle to get loose balls and his nose for rebounding rather it be offensive or defensive. With his size and athleticism, it will be hard for a lot of opponents to stop Austin. Expect a big season from Austin as Pontotoc has a chance to make a big run this season.
No. 6 2023 5’10 Darrell Brooks West Lowndes (MS)
Looking at another top freshman we have Brooks. Darrell is a true PG and very mature at the point guard spot. He can set teammates up for easy finishes and always seems to make the right reads. He’s patient when using picks and has a soft touch to get the pass right where it needs to be when his teammates roll. His handle is tight, and his downhill speed is quick for his age. Has he continues to develop expect to here is name a lot in the near future. Look for Brooks to be the young leader of his West Lowndes squad.
No. 26 2022 6’ Jederion Lewis Meridian (MS)
Strong bodied guard who brings a lot of energy and passion when he steps on the court. Lewis was very vocal with his teammates throughout the day and showed that he has a good understanding of how the game should be played. He rebounded well and pushed the break whenever he got a chance. He got to the basket often, punishing whoever was in his path while getting there.
No. 38 2020 6’3 Tyhem Reaves Holly Springs (MS)
Reaves was in attack mode from start to finish when the ball was tipped. He had a lot of strong takes to the basket and converted some tough and 1 plays. Reaves was quick off the dribble and used his tight handle to weave in and out of defenders to get to his spots. He can get his shot off from anywhere and thrives from the midrange and beyond the arc.
No. 40 2021 6’ Robert Rice Starkville (MS)
Robert was a strong finisher with sneaky athleticism. He embraces contact whenever it comes his way. He showed confidence to take tough shots and try to make plays for others. He showed that he was fearless as he took a chance of guarding everyone.
No. 41 2020 6’2 Jonathan Richardson Riverside (MS)
Making the ride over from Riverside Richardson came to show what he could do. He connected with teammates early on making the simple passes until he found his groove. He ran the guard spot well showing good flashes of craftiness. He will be one to watch this season.
No.42 2021 6’5 Rock Robinson Pontotoc (MS)
Rock is one of the best prospects we have in Mississippi this season. He brings a lot of size and skill to the shooting guard position. Off the catch and shoot, he can make you pay and if you make him put it on the floor, he can finish it at the rim. Robinson has good shooting mechanics and a high release. Expect coaches to really start to take notice as he is expecting a breakout season.
No. 45 2021 5’11 Donovan Sanders Lake Cormorant (MS)
Speed is the first thing that comes to mind when you see Sanders. Sanders is an absolute blur in the open court and his first step leaves defenders froze. He got into the lane and to the basket often. He had some nice finishes at the cup. His vision is underrated as well, as he set up teammates on multiple occasions for easy buckets
No. 49 2021 6’3 Tyson Smithey Ingomar (MS)
Smithey came out from the jump with tons of energy. Once he found his comfort zone he started to dominate guys around the basket. He has a good IQ and makes the game simple for himself and teammates. He rebounded the ball well and was able to start the break himself.
No.58 2021 6’5 Keandre Woods Pearl (MS)
Woods was one of the better athletes at the camp. He has major ups and demonstrated that often when skying to grab rebounds. Next for his development is finding out where he can dominate offensively
No. 82 2022 6’1 Eli Walker Southeast (MS)
Eli is a combo guard who was a great teammate. He always made the unselfish play He showed a good IQ and made several good reads with the ball in his hands. He looked comfortable shooting from the perimeter and attacking the basket.
