CYBL Magnolia Classic Standouts Part 2

2022

6’ Jabarie Robinson (Team Elite) #WGGTidalwave Alum

Robinson is one of the most gifted players in the 2022 class. When it comes to putting the ball in the basket he can do it in a variety of ways. Saying that he’s crafty is an understatement. When he’s in attack mode rather it be in transition or in the half-court its impossible to stop him. His quick first step and offensive arsenal give defenders nightmares. We can expect the offers to start rolling in soon.

5’11 Keiveon Hunt (Team Elite)

Strong bodied PG who can get anywhere he wants on the floor. He’s wired to score and found himself in the lane finishing through contact often this weekend. He left the gym rocking when he went up and caught a body on a big man. Yes, he really dunked on someone even though the cameras weren’t rolling. Coming off a state championship run there is no wonder his recruitment has been flowing steadily recently. Expect more coaches to come calling.

Offers: Jackson State, Alabama State

6’10 Parker Henry (Team Elite) #WGGTidalwave Alum

Parker has gotten better and better each time I’ve seen him. Long Stretch 4 that can deck it and shoot the mid-range and 3 pointer. On the defensive end, he does a great job of blocking and altering shots at the rim. The more confidence he gains the scarier it will be for the opposition. Coaches tune in now. In 2 years you will be getting a great player

6’ Jederion Lewis (Team Elite) #WGGTidalwave Alum

Lewis is another strong-bodied PG who bullied guys around all weekend. He made a habit of getting to the basket and converting layups frequently. He does a great job rebounding the ball for a guard and always looks to push the fast break. One to keep an eye on.

5’11 Kylan Baggett ( Starkville Swish)

Baggett is one that I had a chance to see a lot over the course of the high school season. He’s a great athlete and it transitions well on the court. He gets to the basket often and can finish with either hand. Sometimes he can get into the habit of playing too fast, but when he’s on pace there isn’t much he cant do. Baggett brings a lot of toughness to the Swish and with his scoring ability, he makes for a great asset.

6’6 David Harbour (Starkville Swish) #WGGTidalwave Alum

David makes to be a great “Glue Guy”. He does a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor. He rebounds well, blocks shots, and just plays with a nonstop motor. Offensively he plays well around the basket and can step out and make shots.

5’9 Reese Jackson (Starkville Swish) #WGGTidalwave Alum

Reese did a great job of running the team and creating for himself. He did a great job of orchestrating the team and getting guys into positions to score. He looked sharp coming off of picks and knocking down jumpers. Jackson had no problem picking up guys on the defensive side of the ball and played hard all weekend.

6’2 Hayes Halbert (Starkville Swish)

Halbert was one of the best shooters I saw all weekend. He can knock them down off the catch and can also shoot it off the dribble. Halbert has a lot of quiet confidence and can hurt you if you allow him to catch fire.

5’9 Demarius Coleman (Team We It)

Team We It brings that “DOG” mentality every game and Coleman is a centerpiece in that mix. Coleman was looking to get a bucket almost every minute of the game. This was my first time seeing him play in person and he didn’t disappoint. He made tons of 3’s and got to the basket whenever he wanted. He can handle it well and he does a great job of drawing defenders to set others up for open looks. Coleman is one that I will keep an eye on.

6’4 Ismail Rashid ( Skill Set)

A very skilled guard that got to the basket at will. Rashid plays with high intensity and that’s hard to go unnoticed. His skill and size caused problems for everyone that stepped in front of him this weekend. Has he begins to find that consistent jumper it’s going to be scary for anybody he goes against

6’7 Jalen Reed (MBAOSAG)

Reed probably intrigued me the most this weekend out of any other player. He has everything. The body, height, feel for the game, and basketball DNA. The games I saw he got to where he wanted to go, whenever he wanted to. He can get to the basket and finish through contact, and he can also knock down jumpers. When he gets that “killer” attitude and applies it to a full game it will be scary for anybody he goes against. D1 coaches need to look here now

6’7 Devin Ree (Team Elite)

Coming in with an ESPN ranking of 35th in the country you will get everyone’s best shot. Ree was game in those high-pressure moments and made tough shots at will. He’s a big guard who can handle and do a little bit of everything. He got to the basket, free-throw line, and consistently made jumpers all weekend. As he begins to add strength and weight to his frame he will only get better. It will be interesting to see where he ends up enrolling this upcoming year. I feel he will need that national competition to push his game to the next level.

Offer: Ole Miss, Bama, MSU, Georgia, Tennessee, Jackson State, TSU, Western Kentucky

6’4 Avaughn Johnson (Team Elite) #WGGTidalWave Alum

Johnson was good all weekend. He was always looking to attack and even caught a body. Johnson is another guy who can cause a mismatch at the guard spot. His length and skill cant go unnoticed by an opposing coach. He can step out and make jumpers when needed and playing on a team filled with talent, you have to be able to get a bucket any way you can.

6’1 Mason Manning (MBAOSAG)

Manning is a really smooth PG. Strong body and a great feel for the PG spot. He makes the right reads and knows when to score and when to give the ball up. He excelled with shooting the mid-range and 3 pointer all weekend. Manning is a high-level PG and doesn’t have many flaws in his game.

Offers: Baylor, LSU, Ole Miss, Illinois, PITT

6’ Samarion Grant (Team Elite) #WGGTidalWave Alum

When it comes to being a dead-eye shooter, Grant fits the category perfectly. He excels when it comes to shooting the mid-range and 3 ball. He has high elevation on his shot and a nice release. He has a good handle and can also finish around the rim.
