CYBL Magnolia Classic Standouts Part 1
Magnolia Classic Standouts
2023
5’10 Josh Hubbard (MBAOSAG)
Hubbard as been on my radar since last summer when I first saw him at the Mississippi State team camp. He’s one of those guys that can just hoop. He has such a great feel for the game and can fill up the stat sheet in a hurry. The past few weeks he has been blowing up and picking up offers in the process. On top of being able to score with ease, he can now dunk with ease. This new vertical leap will be sure to make his stock rise among the college coaches. Like the past few tournaments, Hubbard dominated this weekend. It will be nice to see him after the COVID pandemic passes over and he gets to go at the other elite players in the country.
Offers: Mississippi State, Jackson State
6’8 Jacob Gazzo (MBAOSAG)
Gazzo is a name I’ve been hearing about since last summer. Everything I heard was true. Gazzo is very skilled and can do so much on the floor. He runs the floor well, rebounds, and can score in a variety of ways. Not only is he really good on the hardwood, but he’s also a star on the diamond. He already holds offers from Ole Miss for Basketball and Baseball. He will be one to watch moving forward.
Offers: Ole Miss
6’7 Kedrick Osby (MBAOSAG)
Osby has been one I have been following since last summer. He had a great showing at the Tidal Wave camp last September and carried it over to have a successful Freshman campaign at the high school level. This weekend he did a little bit of everything. His size and skill set allows him to play and guard multiple positions. On a team with two other top 2023 guys, you have to find a way to affect the game in any way you can. I love to see Osby operating at either guard spot or on the wing. As mentioned earlier his skill set allows him to do whatever a team needs him to do. Expect those offers to start rolling in next spring/summer.
Offers:
6’7 Josh Holman (Skill Set Elite)
Holman Is another skilled guard/wing in the 2023 class. He can handle it, shoot it, and make plays for others. Playing with Skill Set he does a little bit of everything but spent most of his time grabbing boards and setting up others. Has he continues to develop the offers will start to pour in.
Offers:
6’6 Gavin Brinker (Starkville Swish)
Brinker is another Tidal Wave alum who has been improving since last September. He had a solid freshman season with Pontotoc but recently his game has taken off to a new level. His last two trips to Jackson have been filled with great reviews from almost everybody. He’s active and seems to be in the right place at all times to get buckets. This weekend he did everything. Rebounded, blocked shots, and scored for the swish. He did most of his damage around the rim but also can knock down mid-range jumpers and 3’s. Brinker is another one who should take off next spring/summer when things go back to normal.
