We Got Game Tidal Wave Team 1
We Got Game Tidal Wave Top 20
Team 1
New Hope (MS) 2022 CG 6’4 Caleb Parr
Parr is a player that has been floating under the radar in Mississippi for quite some time now. Why is that? We don’t know, but what we do know is that he’s a certified hooper. When we look at a player, we try to find any glaring holes in their game, and honestly Parr has none. He can create off the dribble for himself and for others. He’s excellent in transition and can finish through contact with either hand. His midrange and 3-point game are good as well. Defensively he can guard 1-5 and can rebound the ball at a high rate. Coaches need to get eyes on this one now.
Jackson State Commit 2022 6’5 Avaughn Johnson
Johnson has participated in the Tidal Wave camp since it started back in 2019. He collected Underclassmen of the day year one. Ever since then he’s been a Top 20 performer at the event. Johnson wasted no time setting the tone early during drills and station. He’s a high energy guy that loves to get out in transition where he can hurt you with his athleticism. He’s always looking to finish above the rim and does so every chance he gets. This past weekend he showed that he could created off the dribble and knocked down some tough contested shots. JSU will have a great player and person headed their way.
Holmes County (MS) 2022 6’1 Amarion Hogan
With a nickname like “Mister” its only right that you have a commanding presence when you step on the floor. Hogan had just that has he made his presences felt earlier by picking up his opponents and playing ball smothering Defense. Offensivly, he looked to pick his spots and made sure to create for others often. He’s a strong body PG and uses that to his advantage. For us It was his passing and defense that stood out on the day. With Hogan at the reins of the team we can expect Holmes County to provide a great title defense.
Holmes County (MS) 2022 6’3 Malik Crigler
Another player from the state champions that showed well was Malik. He was one of the best shooters in the gym on the day and he had no problems letting it fly. Standing at a legit 6’3 and having a strong frame only added to the intrigue that one has with him as a prospect. He showed the ability to get to the basket and finish, but it was his 3-point shooting that set him apart from the rest. With Crigler at the SG it will be hard not to favor Holmes with the veteran backcourt they will have.
Ole Miss Commit 2022 6’3 Nick Krass
Krass was one of the smoothest players that we saw throughout the event. He plays at his own pace and knows when to speed the game up and bring it back down to get everyone else involved. He exceled with making the right reads and using the pick and roll to take advantage of his opponents. He shot the ball well on the day but his nifty finishes around the rim and handles in transition were just on another level. It will be interesting to see if he can lead the talented St. Patrick team to a 3A State title.
Raymond (MS) 2024 6’9 EJ Paymon
EJ is having himself a great fall preseason. Back in August he went to the CP3 Rising Stars National Camp and finished as a top 10 player for the class of 2024. He absolutely dominated that event. Last season he went to school out of state but now he’s back. He landed at Raymond and boy is that the perfect fit. EJ played well on the day dominating around the basket and showing his touch from outside. He even went basket for basket with JSU commit Avaughn Johnson.
D’Iberville (MS) 2022 6’4 Dominic Simpkins
Simpkins was one of the best athletes at the Tidal Wave. He was a monster in transition and opponents couldn’t seem to keep him off the rims. He’s a high energy guy that loves to guard. His length seemed to cause a lot of problems. He caused many steals that ended with him hanging on the rims on the other end of the floor. Simpkins can also make jump shots as he knocked down quite a few 3’s on the day. One to watch moving forward
Grace Baptist Academy (MS) 2023 6’3 Andre Stewart
Andre is a player that we have heard about but haven’t seen until camp day. He impressed all the camp staff with his ability to knock down shots and get to the rim whenever he wanted. He has a tight handle and can get to his spots with ease. Stewart is one to watch going forward as he can only get better.
Columbus (MS) 2022 6’1 Willie Young
If you are looking for a player that plays hard every minute hes on the floor Willie is your guy! Young is a lock down defender that has no problem guarding the opposing team’s best player. Offensively he can do a little bit of everything, but he thrives on getting clean up baskets and just out working everybody else. If he gets open looks on the break its always an above the rim finish. Look for Young to be a big piece for Columbus this season.
Grace Baptist Academy (MS) 2023 6’11 Brave Rutsindura
Brave was obviously the biggest guy in the gym. He really impressed the staff with his ability to rebound the ball at a high level and his ability to run the floor. Rutsindura’s best attribute at the moment is his ability to protect the rim. He altered and blocked countless shots and was a big defensive presence throughout the day.
