We Got Game Tidal Wave Team 2
WGG Tidal Wave Top 20
Team 2
Jackson Prep (MS) 2023 6’5 Sam Stogner
Mr. Fundamental is what we should call Sam. He does all the small things right and makes such a big impact on the game for any team. Stogner can score in transition and in the half court set. He did a great job setting up teammates for ease baskets. In Game 2 he heated up from beyond the arc and earned his spot in the top 20 game. Look for Sam to have a big season at Jackson Prep.
Raymond (MS) 2022 5’11 Tremaine Dixon
Dixon made a return to camp after missing it last year due to injury. As a sophomore he made the Top 20 game, and this year was no different. On the day Dixon picked up the “Mr. Hustle” award because he plays so hard all game long. He opened up in game one with a 20 point performance and did the same in game 2. He shot the ball at a high clip and got to the basket often. With all of the in state jucos after him it will be interesting to see where he decided to go. We can look for Dixon to head back to his 4th straight 4A title game as Raymond look to be the #1 team in the State to start off.
Northwest Rankin (MS) 2022 Levionne Lindsey
Lindsey was a newcomer to the Tidal Wave and he took advantage of the opportunity. He impressed all day with his strong takes to the basket and knocking down shots. He has a strong frame which allowed him to get down hill and finish through contact with ease. Defensively he caused problems all day as well. What won’t go unnoticed is how crafty he is. Look for him to have a strong season at NW Rankin
Starkville (MS) 2023 6’6 Makhi Myles
Makhi is one that will be a breakout performer this season. With Starkville making a coaching change we’ve also seen their style of play shift a little as well. This summer Myles has been turning heads with his ability to put the ball on the floor and shoot it from deep. At the Tidal Wave he did all of that and more. He had plenty of highlight dunks and shot the ball extremely well. Look for him to be one of the top players in the state this season!
West Lauderdale (MS) 2022 6’9 Parker Henry
Parker is probably the best skilled big man that we have in the state. He can put it on the floor, shoot it from 3, and is also a solid passer. On the day he did a great job of scoring around the basket using great footwork and knocking down that elbow jumper that we’ve come accustomed to seeing him make. Look for Parker to be one of the best seniors in the State this year.
Vicksburg (MS) 2024 6’2 Kam Brown
Underclassmen of the day was an easy pick at the Tidal Wave. Kam came into the camp looking to give out buckets and that exactly what he did. He scored on all 3 levels and did it efficiently. He’s a shifty combo guard with size that makes him a tough player to guard. His midrange shot used to be his best attribute, but the last month I’ve seen him twice and the 3 ball is going in at a high rate. With him looking to lead a young Vicksburg team this season and having more shots on the table to take don’t be surprised if he averages around 20ppg.
West Jones (MS) 2022 6’3 LeJames Duckworth
If there was a surprise player of the day, it would have been Duckworth. He turned heads all day with his willingness to get out and guard all the top guys and go at them on the offensive end. He scored from all over the court and had a couple of crafty finishes at the rim that you couldn’t miss. Duckworth is one we will keep eyes on throughout the season.
Mendenhall (MS) 2023 6’ James Turner
Mr. Defensive had to go to Turner because he come with the energy every second, he was on the floor. He created turnovers at a high rate and had a ton of steals throughout the day. He didn’t have a problem handing out buckets on the other end of the floor, as he got to the basket often and hit jumpers from midrange and beyond the arc. We can look for turner to be considered one of the top guys in the 2023 class.
Columbus (MS) 2022 6’3 Tre Dismuke
Dismuke has been to the Tidal Wave since the inaugural year. He’s played on the Top 40 team and this year he finished off by making the Top 20 game. Tre has nice size and uses it will at the guard spot. Dismuke has improved every year and now heading into his senior season he is looking to peak. He got downhill in transition and finished at will. He knocked down jumpers from all over the floor and defended well on the day. Tre will be a key player for Columbus this year as they look to make a deep post season run.
2022 6’4 George Marshall
We’ve been a George Marshall fans since we first saw him on opening day last year against Callaway. He plays the game the right way and makes it look so easy. Rather it be getting to the rim and scoring with nifty finishes or knocking down jumpers, Marshall gets it done. During the camp he spent most of his time hanging on rims, knocking down NBA range 3s, and just putting on a show in all 3 games he played. There is no doubt that he will be named one of the Top 12 players in the state on the Preseason Dandy Dozen list, and we can expect a big senior season from him.
