We Got Game Tidal Wave Top 40 Team 2
We Got Game Tidal Wave
Team 2
Jim Hill (MS) 2023 5’10 Qua Jones
Tough and the ultimate competitor is what we see with Jones. From the start of drills he was giving it all he had and it carried over to game time. Jones harassed opposing guards on the defensive end and out muscles them on the offensive end. He was another guy that shot the ball extremely well. His tenacious play landed him in the Top 40 game.
Parklane Academy (MS) 2024 6’3 Brewer Carruth
Carruth has gotten better and taller almost every time we’ve seen him. He plays the game with a lot of heart and passion. His nonstop motor is something that a coach or an evaluator can’t miss. Carruth got into the lane often where he converted contested lay ups and his soft touch floater. Another part of his game that you can’t miss is his ability to shoot the ball. Standing at a legit 6’3 and with his frame Brewer has become a tough player to guard. Look for him to have a break out season at Parklane this season.
Olive Branch (MS) 2023 6’2 Kaleb King
Moving on to a guy that we have never seen before, we have Kaleb. He impressed early on with his confidence and shot making ability. In game one he had a breakout performance where he showcased his range from 3 and crafty finishes around the rim. King adds value to a team that is primed to compete for the 6A title this season.
MRA (MS) 2024 5’9 Sam Hailey
Sam was a player that made it easy for everyone else. He did all of the small things that others didn’t do. If there was a ball on the floor, he was there trying to get it. He was one of the better on ball defenders at the camp and created a lot of tunrovers. Sam also comes equipped with a nice jumper that he put on display throughout the day. We can expect Sam to give MRA a much needed boost of energy whenever he’s on the floor.
Pontotoc (MS) 2023 5’11 Zane Tipler
Zane has attended the Tidal Wave camp since freshman year. Last year he finhsed as a Top 40 performer and this year he did it again. Zane is a shifty guard that leaves defenders cemented to the court. He is one of the best shooters in the state at this point and he’s only getting better. Rather he’s knocking down 3 balls or slicing through the D getting to the rim, he’s a guy that teams will have to game plan for this season. We can look for Zane to average anywhere between 16-20ppg this year.
Grace Baptist (MS) 2024 6’2 Dominick Stewart
A guy that really showed a great feel for the game was Dominick Stewart. Stewart had a great day with knocking down shots and just showing his overall IQ and feel for the game. He made the right plays almost every time. He has great size for the guard spot and a tight handle to go along with it. Once his athleticism catches up with his size and skillset he will be hard to stop.
South Pontotoc (MS) 2024 6’3 Pacey Matthews
Matthews was the glue guy of the day. He did all of the dirty work and cleaned up for teammates throughout the day. Matthews showed a soft touch around the rim and was a monster on the glass. As he continues to fine tune his game we can look for him to be a threat from all over the floor.
Jim Hill (MS) 2023 6’3 Jacolbi Hampton
Hampton was a ball of energy all day doing whatever it took to get wins. He’s a tireless work horse that plays above the rim. Jacolbi had many highlight plays when getting downhill. He’s at his best when attacking, but he’s capable from midrange and 3 as well.
Biloxi (MS) 2023 6’3 Duran Parish
Duran is a player in the 2023 class that we’ve been hearing about over the last year. He made his presence known with his crafty handles and playmaking ability. Parish is a highlevel athlete with a quick burst. He reads ball screens well and can cause a lot of problems in the pick in roll setting. Parish is a shot taker and shot maker. He showed us all why he’s getting the buzz along the coast and now we all know he’s one of the top guys in the class.
Noxubee (MS) 2023 6’ Darrell Brooks
Brooks is a true PG that can run any team. At the camp he did all of the orchestrating offensively and made everyone else’s job easy. He does a great job of reading plays before they happen and knows how to use ball screens to get to his spots. In the half court he was hard to stay in front of. He found himself at the rim quite often on the day. Heading to a new school and new division we can expect Brooks to fit in nicely at the 3A level and add a ton of value to a tough Noxubee squad.
