Houston MS Jamboree

Houston Middle School Jamboree

Last weekend we traveled down to Houston Mississippi for their annual Middle School Jamboree. The teams competed well and there were some players that stood out among the group of talent that graced the floor that weekend. Below we give our thoughts on what we saw and who has what it takes to be a good player in the future.

7th & 8th Graders

Coulhoun City 2023 G 5’11 Zy Pryor

Pryor was pretty much unstoppable all day. He spent most of the day using his size to dominate smaller guards on both ends of the floor. Pryor has a habit of getting to the lane and finishing through contact with ease. With the season here, it’ll be fun to watch as he progresses.

Coulhoun City 2023 PG 5’7 Cameron Crutchfield

Smooth with a quiet yet loud touch of confidence is what one see’s when you watch Crutchfield. Getting into the lane and finishing over bigger defenders was easy for him. He carries that true PG feel for the game and can run a team effectively. His floater was his go to move on the day and he made some clutch buckets to help his team get the win.

Houlka 2024 PG 5’3 Nehemial Flemming

Flemming was a bucket getter. He warms up with high intensity which carries over to game play. Yes, he’s obviously smaller than most of his opposition but height is the only thing he lacks. In Flemming you see a player that defends well, scores in bunches, and can make winning plays for a team. With his shot making ability Houlka should win a lot of games this season.

West Union 2024 5’10 G Greer Manning

There weren’t many other players as skilled as Manning. He comes equipped with all the tools a 7th grader needs to dominate. He has great foot work and can finish well around the basket. He can shoot the mid-range or 3 ball well. as he improves his ball handling he will be one to watch.

Houston 2023 F 6’6 Michael Smith

Smith was the most intriguing prospect on the day. He’s a gift athlete with the size and motor to be a legit college prospect. Smith is a little raw, but the upside is almost guaranteed due to the flashes of basketball instinct that he showed. As he improves he will be a sure fire D1 kid.
