Lighthouse Classic - Names to know
Lighthouse Classic
With all the big names at the Lighthouse Classic it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle. There were players from everywhere competing on the Hardwood trying to build their brands. With tons of talented prospects on display here are a few that showed they belong in the conversation of being college prospects.
Callaway (MS) 2022 6’ PG Kevion Hunt
I’m a firm believer that when you get in high school grade level doesn’t matter anymore. Hoopers hoop and that’s exactly what Hunt came into the game and did. He’s a very good guard and a spark off the bench. Hunt as a lot of flare to his game. He can make plays for others as well as himself. Kevion has an elite arsenal offensively and he put that on display against #4 Memphis East. Speaking to him after the game he stated, “It’s a big adjust from 14U, the game speed is a lot faster” (Hunt). He’s the best PG in Mississippi for class of 2022 so far for me.
Stats: 11pts 4reb
Callaway (MS) Unsigned Senior 6’3 Shadrick Bouldin
Bouldin is a player who can float under the radar with having such a dynamic teammate like Daeshun Ruffin. He is very productive if you watch the game closely and view the stat sheet afterwards. He makes timely shots weather its via lay ups or mid-range. He rebounds very well even against much bigger player and does all the dirty work a coach can ask him to do. Coaches looking for a late pick up need to look here. His production is worth it
Stats: 11pts 10reb 3stls
Florence (MS) 2021 6’ PG Devin Carter
Florence is one of the top teams in Mississippi and they have a very solid team. Carter is wired to scorer and he can do that in multiple ways. He’s a tough lead guard who brings a killer mentality every minute on the floor. Carter also is very good with making plays for others. He will be one to watch this season and summer.
Stats: 13pts 6 reb off
Florence (MS) Unsigned Senior 6’1 Lerenozo Fort
Another prospect on this talented squad is Fort. Fort does all the small things right and is a glue piece for this squad. He can rebound, make plays, and has BOUNCE. On the defensive end of the floor he has the size and strength to guard both guard spots. His recruitment isn’t booming as like it should and he could use a JUCO. He will make any coach happy because he is a gamer.
Stats; 8pts 6ast
Hamilton Heights (TN) 2020 6’ PG Jordan Rawls
One of the best PGs I seen in 2018 is Jordan Rawls. Rawls is a PG that literally can do it all. He has such a great feel for the game. His understanding for all of the small things is through the roof. He sets up others and gets his buckets in the process. He scorers at will from every level and makes spectacular plays for others. It does help his development that he plays on a well-balanced team but there’s no question he’s the driving force behind their success. Rawls is a High Major guard for sure.
Stats: 23pts 10ast 6reb
Hamilton Heights (TN) 2020 6’7 Wing Samson Ruzhentsev
One of the best players I saw was Samson. He doesn’t get all the hype from the media, but he can hoop and do it at a high level. Ruzhentsev controlled the boards and dominated the wing position. From making chase down blocks to hitting back to back 3s. He has the total package. He handles the ball well, shoots the 3 well, and plays with a very high motor the entire game.
Stats: 24pts 8ast
Wesley Christian (KY) 2019 6’7 Pouch Pouch
Pouch Pouch was one of the most intriguing prospects I saw at Lighthouse. Coming over from Australia he has adapted quickly to the American style and pace. He knocked down 3s, attacked the basket, and had a handful of highlight reel worthy dunks. He’s super athletic and this will translate well at the next level. He scored 29 point with ease and brought the crowd to their feet multiple times. Coaches need to put eyes on him.
Stats: 29pts
Wesley Christian (KY) 2019 6’6 Arol Kachuol
Arol is a guy of few words but he has a lot of game. Kachuol is long and uses his length to his advantage. He plays hard on both sides of the ball. On the defensive end he blocks multiple shots, forces turnovers, and grabs boards. Offensively he started off slow but then begin knocking down 3s and getting to the cup at will. Kachuol will be a good pick up for any college program looking for a versatile wing.
