Top 40 Team 1

6’ Kylan Baggett ( Starkville)

Starting off with Baggett, we have a combo guard who gets to the basket and finishes often. He thrives coming downhill and putting pressure on the defense. Kylan is also able to knock down 3’s at a high rate. At the camp, he was one of the best scorers on the day. With the ability to finish with either hand it’s almost impossible to stop him when he gets going. Look for Baggett to be a key figure in the yellow Jacket line up as they seek their 3rd championship in a row

2023 6’3 LJ Hackman ( New Hope)

DEFENSE is the first word that comes to mind when you see Hackman play. He takes pride in locking up his opponents using high intense defense all 94ft. Not only is he a superb defender, but a good scorer as well. His size allows him to bully guys on both sides of the ball. He attacks the basket with mean intentions and is always looking for contact. Hackman is a streaky shooter but can put up points in bunches. There were 3 players that stood out all day with bringing intense and Hackman brings that every possession. LJ is a top 5 kid in the 2023 class. New Hope has a young star that will be primed to carry the workload this season.

2023 5’8 Zane Tipler (Pontotoc)

Tipler was one of the better shooters on the day. He knocked down shots with ease and played with a ton of confidence. . He handles the ball well and has a great feel for the game. Defensively he is able to guard bigger guards with no problem. He has grown since last year and this will be beneficial moving forward. Playing on a loaded high school squad I will be interesting to see how the young PG orchestrates that offense.

2022 6’10 Parker Henry ( West Lauderdale)

Parker has gotten better every time I’ve seen him in the last few months. He has great footwork and touch inside of the paint. His ability to knock down the mid-range and 3 ball makes him an instant mismatch for bigs. When playing with good guards one gets to see his full potential. He thrives with the pick and pop and this will only add value to his game moving forward. Defensively he rebounds well and always alters shots. We look forward to seeing Parker play this season with this newfound confidence.

6’2 Tre Dismuke (Columbus)

Another guy that really had a great day scoring the ball was Dismuke. He got it down on all three levels. Getting to the basket, making the midrange jumper, and knocking down 3’s. He’s done a great job of improving his footwork which has made the game easier for him. With his size, he causes problems for the average guard. With his off the ball scoring ability look for Tre to have a great season over at Columbus.

6’3 Matthew Smith (Desoto Central)

For the second year in a row, Smith has been one of the best athletes at the Tidal Wave. His ability to make highlight plays is second to none. What we saw at camp is his much-improved jump shot. He knocked down 3’s with ease this weekend. His Big body allows him to get into the lane and finish over defenders. Defensively he can guard multiple positions and his athleticism allows him to outrebound most players. Colleges need to get on Matthew ASAP. It’s shocking that he doesn’t have any JUCO, NAIA, or D2 offers to his name.

6’6 Damian Mcknight (Lake Cormorant)

McKnight was another great athlete that we had at the camp. He made a habit of getting in the lane and dominating. His length allows him to be able to guard multiple positions on the floor. He’s a capable shooter from 3 and this causes problems for bigs. He dominates the glass and runs the floor well. He had many monster blocks and keep the intensity high the whole day. He will be a key piece to the “big 3” over at Lake Cormorant this year. Coaches get in on him now.

6’ Carson Rowland (Pine Grove)

From one on one drills to the 5 0n 5 play Cason stood out. He competes at a high level and always wants to win. He handles the ball extremely well and can shoot the cover off the ball. Whether it was playing on the ball or off the ball Rowland found a way to affect the game. He did a great job guarding bigger guards and played with a nonstop motor. Coaches who are looking for a gamer look no further than Rowland.

2023 6’4 Sam Stogner (Jackson Prep)

Sam impressed us on the day. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time. He plays the game the right way and is very fundamentally sound. When it came to knocking down shots he did that consistently. He excels at shooting mid-range shots and knocking down 3’s. His size allows him to finish around the basket with ease as well. It will be fun to watch as he continues to develop.

5’11 Reese Jackson (Starkville Academy)

Jackson has been playing well since July. He does a great job running the team and knows when he needs to get a bucket himself. He reads the game well and makes it easy for others. He gets downhill in a hurry and causes problems with his ability to finish or kick it out to open shooters when he penetrates. Defensively, he is able to defend bigger guards with his quick lateral movement and strength. Look for Reese to have a big season at SA this year.
